The Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA) is a not-for-profit professional organization of over 1600 surgeons, physicians, and allied health members passionately dedicated to advancing musculoskeletal care for children and adolescents through education, research, quality, safety and value initiatives, advocacy, and global outreach to children in underserved areas.
Summary: Manage a wide variety of activities to assist with the maintenance of a healthy and viable membership organization. Plan and execute marketing strategies to promote the Society’s programs, events, and initiatives to ensure they align with strategies and goals. Manage all aspects of membership services, benefits, and policies. Guide and provide recommendations to relevant committees and provide reviews and analyses to aid in strategic decisions.
Primary Responsibilities:
Manage, implement, and evaluate POSNA’s marketing and communication strategies.
Work collaboratively with staff to establish and coordinate an annual communication and marketing plan.
Responsible for creating compelling marketing content and design strategy for all marketing and communications including emails, print and digital ads, event signage, meeting materials, newsletters, press releases, JPOSNA, web content and more.
Compile and analyze marketing and communications data and provide insights on optimization.
Manage, monitor, and maintain the Society’s social media presence including tracking metrics and recommending new strategies.
Manage, implement, and evaluate the Society’s membership activities.
Ensure the Society provides value to members and potential members through creative planning and execution of recruitment and retention initiatives.
Oversee the membership renewal process. Work with the Accounting Coordinator to ensure accurate financial tracking of membership dues.
Develop membership marketing and promotional materials including membership applications, welcome kits, certificates, and other collateral.
Oversee the biennial member needs assessment.
Collaborate with the Business Analyst & Digital Technology Manager in the management of the member database. Assure that both domestic and international privacy laws are adhered to, and reports and data are accurate and secure. Train appropriate staff.
Oversee the Job Board.
Manage, implement, and evaluate committee activities.
Serve as the staff liaison to assigned committees.
Monitor the Committee Appointment Program (CAP).
Provide support to volunteer teams who contribute content to POSNA.
Collaborate with the Business Analyst & Digital Technology Manager to collect, maintain and publish content on the Society’s video portal, POSNAcademy, and websites. Ensure required permissions are obtained.
Provide support and guidance to leadership and staff.
Work with Executive Director to create annual budgets and to ensure for proper and transparent record keeping, meet financial goals.
Support leadership with agenda development, arrange and communicate the meetings; distribute agenda materials; write appropriate reports, draft, distribute, and archive meeting minutes/official business; and conduct follow-up on action items.
Work with leadership and staff to implement committees’ deliverables on time and within budget.
Review and evaluate activities on a regular basis; ensure committees are meeting objectives; provide guidance, as necessary.
Evaluate and/or maintain procedures, descriptions, announcements, statistical reports, and history.
Keep content on the POSNA websites current and relevant and identifies needed updates. Acts as back up for website updates as needed.
Develop and maintain effective communications and relations with leadership.
Develop and maintain protocols and procedures related to the position’s responsibilities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required.
4+ years in a supervisory role.
4+ years of related experience, preferably within a nonprofit organization.
Ability to create content, develop and manage marketing plans.
Experience in membership development and engagement.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Organized, exceptional time management skills, and detail oriented.
Self-motivated, creative, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. A cooperative, supportive, and “can do” attitude is crucial to success.
An understanding of nonprofit member-focused organization and awareness of the value, purpose, culture, and mission of nonprofit organizations.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, and the ability to learn other software that is integral to the position.
Familiarity with JotForm, SurveyMonkey, MailChimp, Hootsuite.
Experience with Association Management Systems, particularly iMIS Enterprise.
